From Concept to Concept Store
In 2019 The Art House forged a new partnership with The Ridings. The concept, a.k.a. Makey Wakey, was to pair artists, makers, entrepreneurs and social engineers with available space in the shopping centre. It was about breathing new life into the city centre. Making a difference to Wakefield. Supporting amazing people to do inspiring things.
Since launching, the Makey Wakey family has grown. A lot.
It has adapted and responded to the needs and potential of this community more than we could have ever imagined.
Our favourite thing about Makey Wakey is when someone challenges us to do something we haven’t done before. Wakefield Tailoring’s exciting new store in The Ridings is one such challenge. The next stage in Makey Wakey’s evolution. A new concept store from textile designer and tailor, Hamid Yavari, featuring pop-ups from The Art House.
Experienced in everything from individual alterations and repairs, to the production of textile products for other artists and creative businesses, Wakefield Tailoring offers custom alterations, fittings, and style consultations to suit every project and price point.
